Pet Microchipping
Help protect against the devastating loss of your pet with a safe and effective micro chip. Micro chips are about the size of a grain of rice and are implanted just under the skin, usually behind the neck. A common misnomer is that these are tracking devices. Instead they emit a small radio signal so that if someone finds your pet, they can use a micro chip scanner to identify its owner. Oftentimes stray animals are taken to humane societies, shelters, or dog pounds that use a micro chip scanner. Once they receive the information from the chip, they call a hotline who in-turn, contact the owner.
At Animal Hospital, Lodi we use a special type of micro chip with a needle and chip pre-packaged and ready for use. The needle is safe and the procedure is so quick, your pet will barely notice. Our Veterinarians are trained to make sure the chip is securely installed so to be certain it does not move for the lifetime of your pet.
We have found that many pet owners don’t feel they need a microchip for their pet because their pets are indoor animals. But a word of caution; house pets that accidently leave the home are the most likely to get lost. Don’t let this happen to you.
For the safety and well-being of your pets, we encourage you to schedule a microchipping appointment today.
